^^ Full announcement above

/ sorry for the wait ;-)

--Features:

o 32-bit Linux OS with apt-get package management

o Highly Optimized - Uses Minimal Resources in default configuration (~128MB RAM, ~6GB disk - Growable)

o Better speed than previous versions

o Small download size (well under 100MB!)

o ESX* compatible -- may have to edit network settings after conversion and 1st boot, however

o Upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (from 8.04 LTS)

o Upgraded filesystems from Reiserfs and JFS to EXT4 ( well, JFS wasn't supported in the kernel - otherwise you'd still have that ;-) )

o /mnt/squid (4GB) is now the default directory for the cache; /var/spool/squid is unused, so more space is available for software installs

o More disks can be added for extra cache space (but the squid.conf must be modified as well)

o Easter eggs

o Built-in bandwidth and CPU monitors running on TTY consoles

o Both caching AND filtering (ads, porn, whatever else you specify - very customizable)

o Network lockdown protection is now included by default for local Class A/B/C networks ( 10.0.0.0, 172.16.0.0, 192.168.0.0 ) - unless an outside IP address is whitelisted (or you allow someone to SSH in with portforwarding) they will get an error message that they are not part of your network

NOTE: If you have both V6 and V7 running on the same network, their MAC addresses may conflict (Static MAC)

--Please try the appliance, and post bug reports
