Device/Credential Guard vmware v12.9

Hi,

Approximately three weeks ago I started having problems starting a VMware guest (Windows 7) on a Windows 10 host. I get this error "VMware Workstation and Device/Credential Guard are not compatible. VMware Workstation can be run after disabling Device/Credential Guard. Please visit http://www.vmware.com/go/turnoff_CG_DG for more details.". The guest just fails to start, I don't get a BSOD.

When I click on the link and follow the instructions, I don't have hyper-v enabled, was never enabled on this workstation. I follow all the instructions and still have the problem. is there any way to fix this or do I just need to wait for vmware to issue a patch? Looking through the forums, I see some have the same issue with v14 so I don't want to upgrade and find the problem still exists.
