Here's my thought : I figured out it would be a good idea to use only my Vm to access internet, using Ubuntu. This way, i'll be more in control of comes in and comes from the internet, without having my host machine infected (since the Linux source code is different from WIndows, usual infections will not spread as easily). Maybe some of you will say i'm wrong, but for most cases infections are vastly designed for Windows users (that pay antiviruses) and it's important for me to stay on Internet and to keep my host machine clean and an even workflow.
I wish to keep my host machine only for my CAO/CAD/Rendering softwares. I had trouble in the past due to infections which has put me in very risky situations with my customers : missed few deadlines, machine shuts down not allowing to move on, lost of data, formating....i don't want to go through that anymore, and i don't want to use antivirus since the most efficient ones are greedy in ressources. The only one i have in the moment is Microsoft Security Essentials and set to use only 20% of the memory during scan.
My machine is a Toshiba Satellite A300 , Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 @ 2 GHz, 4 gig of RAM, 32 bits with Windows 7 Ultimate, my Vm Worstation is 10.0.0 build-1295980. I'm starting few freelance design projects with this machine and as you can see it doesn't have enough specs for what is really use it for.
Anyway, if there was a way to move the wifi connection straight to the guest machine, without goin through the host machine,i would have takin it. But since it's not possible i've just set a bridged connection.
But here's the question : Can i secure that bridge, in order to make sure that any infections of any kind that may come through will get on the virtual environement only? Is there any method or procedure to follow in order to block any opportunistic invasion in the host machine?
Is there any other other way to get to that goal that you may know about? Any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your answers.
