Unsable to start VM created from physical machine.

Using VMWare Workstation 10.0.1, on Windows 8.1 PRO x64.  Have converted the C drive of this same system to a virtual machine.  However, when I attempt to start the VM, I get the VMWare logo, then the screen goes black and the VM powers off.

Shouldn't this work?  I've converted Windows 7 physical machines to virtual, but haven't tried it on Windows 8.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
