Host-only networking and Solaris 10 guest

Hi,

I am running Centos 6.5 as a host and have installed Solaris 10 as a guest but I cannot for the life of me establish connectivity when I use host-only networking. When I install Solaris using this networking option, I am not able to ping the gateway from the guest. Nor am I able to ping the guest from the host. I tried disabling firewalls on both guest and host and still not able to ping the Solaris guest from the host. I can't ssh to the guest either.

[user@computer1 ~]# ping 192.168.101.10

PING 192.168.101.10 (192.168.101.10) 56(84) bytes of data.

From 192.168.101.1 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable

I am not using DHCP and I'm assigning a manual IP during the solaris install. I've also unselected DHCP option for the host virtual adapter in VMWare virtual network editor.

When I create a Solaris 10 guest using bridged networking, again assigning a manual IP, I am then able to ping the Solaris guest from the host.

I am on Workstation 8.0.6 build-1035888 and guest is Solaris 10u11 (aka 10 1/13). Is this a known issue with Solaris 10 or is there something else I need to  configure in the guest? I select the same options when installing Solaris 10 using bridged or host-only. I've even tried NAT and still the same issue,

I am able to use host-only with linux guests with no issues.

Any thoughts appreciated.

J
