Hi guys,
I'm looking to get a new laptop for a business I'm starting, and I was thinking of a mac. However, most of my software is windows based. No problem, I already use VMWare Workstation as half of it is also not supported on anything except XP SP1. My only concern with a mac is that while I can have all my VM's set up, I can't run VMWare Workstation on OSX, so if I ever needed to change anything in the VM settings, I'd have to have access to a PC with VMWare workstation.
Unless, I thought, I use a PC to initially set up a VM running windows XP/7/8 for the sole purpose of running VMWare Workstation. Then I run this VM using Fusion, make my changes, save the VM to the host machine, and then run them using Fusion.
So aside from feeling very much like this guy:
Can anyone tell me if this is actually possible? Or whether it would have inherent issues that I haven't thought of? Having not used Fusion I don't know how much access to VM settings I would have compared to Workstation, maybe Fusion would in itself be enough. The only things I'm going to need to be playing with are virtual serial ports and network connections. Anyhow any advice is appreciated!
Thanks!
