Workstation 9 Added HDD and ....

I added another HD to my VM.  It shows up but now I need to format it.  How do I format a VM HDD?  I did searchers in this forum and on Google and could not find it....I know it can be done, just need assistance with how and hopefully the documentation for future reference.
