Shared VMs cannot access USB Flash Drive

In VMWare workstation 10 when a VM has been shared (Working as server), Once, the physical Network has been disconnected from the Host Machine,a USB flash drive can be attached but cannot access by the shared VM, it gives an error that USB key is not accessable. Once, the network cable is reconnected to the host machine, the same shared VM could access USB flash drive with no issues. Does anyone know if that is the normal behavior of shared VMs in VMware Workstation 10 or it is simply a bug.
