I have just recently upgraded to Workstation 10, and am having a strange problem. In the preferences I have the option checked that states "Keep VMs running after workstation closes". In workstation 9 this option worked exactly has expected, but workstation 10 seems to only partially work as expected. In Workstation 9 I could close workstation, and then later open in from the tray icon to still see my VMs running with the little green play icon on them. However, in workstation 10 I close the workstation and all my VMs do continue to run, but when I reopen workstation all my VMs appear in the workstation as if they are powered off; but they are running because I can RDP to them. If I right click on one of them everything is grayed out except for Mark as Favorite and remove. I can not power it off, change settings, view the console, or anything. The the tray icon does show that VMs are running, but even the tray icon options to suspend, shutdown, pause, or open background VMs do not work either. The only way that I have found to actually get the workstation working again is to use task manager to kill the vmware-vmx.exe task. As soon as the task is killed for each running workstation they function again in the workstation.
Has anyone experienced this problem, or know of a fix for it? I run several VMs, and never have any idea which vmware-vmx.exe is for which VM when needing to change something on one of them. I have to make sure that I can kill them all in order to make one change to one of them.
