Under VMware Workstation, is there any way to create a virtual disk (as opposed to a physical disk) and have it be set as a non-persistent disk? The whole point being to make the disk essentially a read-only disk after the guest OS has been installed and configured. It could be marked as a persistent disk until installation and configuration have finished and then be changed to a non-persistent disk so that no further changes can be permanently made. But use of a physical won't work in my environment. I need to be able to use virtual disks for this instead of physical ones and everything I've read so far seems to indicate that you must use physical disks in order to set them as non-persistent. Anyone able to answer this?
