Ubuntu 14.04 Full Screen Menu Bar issue

Details:

Host machine: Ubuntu 14.04 (though I saw this issue with 13.10 as well)

Guest Machine: Windows 8.1

VMware Workstation: 10.0.x (I've tested with 10.0.0, 10.0.1 and 10.0.3)

Screen Layout (though it has no bearing on the issue, it happens regardless of screen layout when the VM is in full screen.  It's just easier to reproduce with a secondary display):

External Display     Internal Display

----------------------      --------------------

|Ubuntu          |     |Windows 8.1 |

|                     |     |Full Screen   |
----------------------      --------------------

Description of the issue:

When operating the VM in full screen mode, if I click anywhere in the upper portion of the screen (where the Ubuntu menu bar normally is) instead of passing the click to the VM, the menu bar is brought to the front and the click is passed to the Ubuntu menu bar.  There is a work around of sorts, but it's pretty annoying.  If use Alt+Tab or click on Workstation in the launcher the click is passed as it should be to the VM.

Steps to reproduce:

1) On an Ubuntu 14.04 machine, launch a windows 8.1 instance and place it in full screen.

2) Click on the Ubuntu Desktop switching focus to Ubuntu, then click anywhere in the full screen VM.

3) Now click in the upper portion of the VM where the Ubuntu menu bar would normally be and it should do one of two things.  If there's a menu bar item where you click, it'll bring up the menu bar item.  If there isn't a menu bar item where you click then it will just block you from clicking in the VM window.
