Standalone Converter permissions

I have installed vCenter Converter Standalone 5.5 on a Windows 8.0 machine.  I'm trying to create a VM, for Player 5.0, of a Windows 7 Home (64-bit) laptop.  I've entered the source information and the destination information.  When the converter goes through the "Verifying Destination Parameters" an error is displayed showing "Insufficient Permissions to connect to 'laptop\C$'.  The destination is C:\VM\vm1 on the laptop which is running the Converter.

I have tried using several definitions for the destination but all return the same error.  The locations are:

\\laptop\c$\VM\vm1

\\laptop\C$\VM\vm1

\\localhost\C$\VM\vm1

\\localhost\c$\VM\vm1

I've tried to use the browse button to select a location but the result is an error telling me to use the UNC.

The machine name is "laptop"

The credentials are an account with admin rights.

I have searched the group discussions didn't find an appropriate discussion to match this one.  The documentation for the Converter doesn't cover this issue. If I missed a community posting, please point me to it, otherwise, does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
