I'm running Workstation 10.0.3 on a Windows 8.1 host. I primarily use a Windows 8.1 VM, but have numerous other guests (all with the latest VMware Tools installed, of course), and they all have the same problem.
Whenever I plug in a USB 3 flash drive to the host, the guest doesn't see it. There are no errors, and they don't appear in the Workstation's list of removable devices - they're just connected to the host (where they work fine). Essentially VMware's USB arbitration service appears to completely ignore them.
All other USB devices I've tested (including USB 2 flash drives) work as expected; although unfortunately I don't have any other USB 3 devices to test. The host's motherboard is based on the Z87 chipset, so has an Intel xHCI.
This problem is becoming a real nuisance. Does anyone know why this is happening, or any idea how to solve it? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
