I don't seem to have any DHCP settings in the Virtual Network Editor it looks to be in all the documentation but I don't seem to have the option at all am I missing something ?

I am using Windows 10 as a guest OS (as well as host) and when connecting any usb audio to the guest OS i am getting it choppy
I have follow other topics on this community yet found no working solution so far
issue happens with all type of usb audio (dongles, jabra, etc)
audio is choppy and distorted
reinstalling vm tools did not helped
usb 3.0 support is enabled in vm

So Virtualbox wasn't working for an older OS and I want to try out VMWare. However, I can't save the text editor file and that's where the download automatically goes.
Mouse won't stay in VMware. It moves cursor slowly. But I return to normal OS.
CentOS never had this trouble.

The question is: Is it possible to deny users from using the host OS? A way that when the computer is turned on, a VM with Windows XP (32-bit Pro SP3) installed is immediately loaded and it cannot be closed and logged out to the host OS? All USB drives and printers instantly connects to the VM without prompt. If it possible, what need to do?

New hardware completely not supported Windows XP, so only VM can run it.
We have some industrial soft, that can run only on Windows XP, developers of this soft already die or non exist at this time.
Develop same soft (from scratch, cuz sources not exist) for new Windows costs more than two million bucks. Old soft works great on XP.
ESXi does not fit our requirements, cuz we need to use THIS machine physically (operator is must to use monitor, mouse and keyboard on this machine).
I will not write the name of the software used and any other information off topic.

I used VMware Workstation 15.1.0 in leap 15.1 for quite a while. Then I made the system upgrate to leap 15.2 (Kernel Version 5.3.18-lp152.41). But when I tried to start vmware Worstation I got the message "Could not open /dev/vmmon: file or filder not found. Please make sure that the kernel module `vmmon` is loaded.
I though "OK this is the usual pain with new kernels", I only have to get them from https://github.com/mkubecek/vmware-host-modules compile them I can go on.
But this was not the case. The compiling process does not show any problems, except the last lines where the modules are started, Two of them failed. See also the attached output of the modconfig command.
Then I noticed that I didn't use the most recent vmware worstation version. So I updated to the version 15.5.6 and tried the same process again. Certainly with the approptiate module sources from mkubecek. But without success. The error messages are still the same. modconfig installer output still shows no succes in activating two modules and also when starting a virtual machine the error message: "Could not open /dev/vmmon: file or folder not found....." persists.
Are there any others with that problem or ideas where I make a mistake?

I am using Windows 10 with a Vm-Ware 15.5.1 machine on a Windows10 host with some programs that I need to use in different versions. Sometimes I will need to use the programs in the current versions and sometimes I will need to use them in an updated version. So I want to make a clone of the current version and update that. Then I can select which clone to start depending on my needs.
But I have some questions:
What is the easiest way to do this?
I tried using the clone function under Manage but just got informed that "you cannot make a clone of a virtual machine with a physical disk". But I need a machine with a disk.
I read that the cloning procedure assigns new MAC addresses to the IP address - I don't want that since my switches filters quite aggressively and only allows known traffic.
I would like to just renaming a few (or using a search and replace if it is many) file and folder names and then have a functioning copy (now my VM-ware machine is in a folder called KALAE1VMWin10 (and many of the files in the folder has this name too). But could I rename the folder and file names to KALAE2VMWin10 and it would still work?
Hi.. Had this issue for a while but finally have some time to look at resolving it. I Workstation Pro 15.5.2 installed but whenever I try to connect to an esxi 5.1 vm I get an MKS: Internal error and just a black screen. This just happens on Workstation Pro 15. It was fine on Workstation 12 and it also still connect fine using vsphere client console.
I've tried iincreasing Remote.maxconnections option also removing /re-adding the guest. Restarting the host but issue remains.. As this was working fine with Workstation 12 it looks particular to Workstation 15.. any ideas how I can get the display console working correctly instead of this MKS internal error and the black screen?

After installing version 16, I realized that the Shared-VM feature was removed and there is no "hostd" service on Linux but in windows "hostd" exist but there is not any section for configuration in GUI or CLI!
this a bug or completely removed!?

We have VMWare Workstation 15 pro installed in the multiple servers with different guest OS. We are facing a problem with UDP Multicast broadcast messages between two virtual machines running on the same host or different host server. Note: The Ping and TCP connections are working properly between two virtual machines.
We read multiple articles on different VMWare community posts, about people facing multicast problems on VMWare Workstation and some other websites, but till now we did not find any solution here by requesting VMWare community members to help us on the above issue or provide some pointers to look further.

Before Shared VMs were removed in Workstation 16, Shared VMs were the best option to auto-power on VMs.
I understand folks can add `vmrun` batch scripts or powershell scripts but almost all of these options require the user to log in first.
The scenario I would like to avoid is:
On startup, I am not logged in and my startup scripts will not run. I can create a Scheduled Task that runs on power on (not login), however, when I finally gain access to my physical PC and log in, the Workstation client cannot control or access the VMs (running in background with `nogui`).
I have tried to run the Scheduled Task with "runAs: my account", but Workstation STILL cannot control unless I kill the processes and restart them.
Any thoughts?
This was working prior to a PC upgrade. I went from a Asrock z77 Extreme 4 motherboard with 16GB of memory and an Intel i5 3570k, to a Gigabyte Z370XP SLI motherboard 16GB of memory and an Intel i7 8700. I transferred my drives, did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.251), My VMs reside on a secondary storage drive so I opened them in workstation. I have tried reinstalling VMware Workstation, recreating the preferences.ini located in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\, recreating the virtual machine and reinstalling vmware tools. I checked another VM and encounter the same issue. So I can CTRL+ALT to break input to the host and it will allow me to click one time, after that it acts as if the mouse buttons are not working. Has anyone ran into this or does anyone have anything I can try? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,
Currently VM ware was installed with old server now I want to transfer the license to new server. How to transfer . Please advice
I have upgraded my host from Windows 1909 to 2004 and now I have noticed that when my host OS suspends or I hibernate it then I am no longer able to communicate with any of the guest VMs.
The guest VMs when on NAT can still ping the .2 NAT IP and can access the internet.
If I change to bridged networking then shutdown the interface and bring it back up again with an IP on that network I can ping the local network.
The host is Windows 10 2004, and the guest are RHEL 7.8, Windows and Debian images all have the same problem.
I have tried doing a complete uninstall of Workstation 15.5.6, and just upgraded to Workstation 16 just in case it is fixed it but it hasn't.
The only thing that has changed was the upgrade of the Host to 2004, and I have foolishly removed the 1909 backup so I can't go back.
Any suggestions on what I could do other than a full re-install of Windows for the host which I would rather not do.
Add Shared VMs back.
If this is not back, than why upgrade to V16 and pay for upgrade license?
Can Run the same VM [guest Windows 10 Pro 64-bit] in both Mac Catalina and Windows 10 Pro,...? I mean having VM in an external SSD Drive like the below... and may half-week in Mac host and rest in Windows host interchangeably? or must only in one host Platform... for avoiding problems? If yes, what must format the external SSD drive?

I have a number of VMs I use from time to time. Silly me, I really need to learn to back them up prior to letting Microsoft update Windows 10. Anyway, I was happily running on 1903 when MS pushed out 1909. Now the VM is a slug, taking forever to boot with slow UI responses. Yes, I know I could have reverted, but I missed my 7 day window.
Would an upgrade to 15.5.1 help me out?
I'll add another question - does VMWare post anywhere compatability tests or warnings?

I have DirectX 12 installed on my virtual PC, however the game i play requires me to have DirectX 11, so i set the launch option to -dx11 on steam but its still wont allow me to launch the game. If anyone can help me out would be much appreciated.
