network configuration- permissions issue

Hello,

I'm trying to configure a simple network with two VM's: one server and one workstation to simulate a network installation of a program.  The first should act as the program's license server, and the second one to run the program.

After completing the installation on the server, a shared folder is made for the program's workstation installer. However, when I browse to this folder, I don't have required permissions to access it. I am logged in as administrator on both VM's.

The workstation VM is a clone of the VM acting as the server: I've changed the computer names. I've used network adapter Custom (VMnet2) on both VM's. I chose this option because this is the only one where I was able to browse to the server location.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot? Is there a better network configuration to make a network like this?
